Vischer Ferry Fire District

Formed in 1951, the Vischer Ferry Fire District is located in the south-central portion of the Town of Clifton Park, in Saratoga County, New York. The District encompasses 15.5 square miles, with its southern border being the Mohawk River. Its purpose is to provide fire protection to the residents and properties within the boundaries served by the Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Company. The Fire District is overseen by a Board of Fire Commissioners, consisting of five elected residents who serve rotating five-year terms. Each year, a public election is held to elect one commissioner. The board is responsible for preparing the fire district’s budget and levying taxes on real property within the district. These tax dollars are essential for funding the necessary equipment and services provided by the Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Company, ensuring effective fire protection and emergency services for the community.
